The Firm

Wheatley Sopp, LLP began in 1988 as Laurie, Maloney & Wheatley. In 1989 and 1992, respectively, Keith Brooks and Richard Sopp left other prominent Sacramento law firms to join the firm. On Bob Laurie's acceptance of an appointment from Governor Pete Wilson to the California Energy Commission, the firm did a name change to Maloney, Wheatley, Sopp & Brooks, LLP. When Nelson K. Brooks was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to the El Dorado Superior Court in 2009 the firm became Wheatley Sopp, LLP.

From its inception in 1988, the firm maintained offices in both El Dorado County and Sacramento County to better serve our clients. Currently, Robert M. Wheatley and Richard D. Sopp practice exclusively from the Sacramento County office.

Wheatley Sopp, LLP has received Martindale Hubbell's coveted A-V® rating which is reserved for only those few law firms nationwide which have been found to afford their clients the highest level of service in both legal proficiency and ethical conduct.

Whether your particular matter involves litigation in State or Federal Court, formation of a new business, mediation or negotiation of the terms of an agreement, planning for the transfer of your estate to your heirs, or putting together a real estate transaction, you can rest assured that Wheatley Sopp, LLP will vigorously protect your interests and work hard to see that you are afforded the best possible result.
